Regarding the news items in some of the News Papers about conviction of Shri Surjit Singh, Ex- Junior Technician of Chandigarh Housing Board in a corruption case, it is informed that the case relates to March 2014 when he was arrested in a bribery case. Shri Surjit Singh was placed under suspension and later on a Departmental Proceedings were initiated against him. After considering the report of the Inquiring Authority, he was dismissed from the service of Chandigarh Housing Board vide order dated 20.02.2017 of the Disciplinary Authority.
His last appeal against the order of dismissal from service was considered by the Board of Directors of CHB during the Board Meeting on 19.03.2020. The Board after hearing Shri Surjit Singh in person, instructions of the CVC, inquiry report and the available facts & record decided that his request of re-instatement in service cannot be accepted. The Board decided to confirm the order dated 20.02.2017 passed by the Disciplinary Authority about removal from service.
Hence it is clarified that Shri Surjit Singh, Ex- Junior Technician has already been dismissed from the service of Chandigarh Housing Board. There is zero tolerance against corruption in Chandigarh Housing Board and strict action are taken against the officials/persons found involve in such cases.
