Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator & Sh. Sanjay Kumar Beniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT & Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services, Acting Director Principal, GMCH & Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.
WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS
1. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Dr. BS Chavan, who served as Director Principal, GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh. He mentioned that till his last breath, Dr. Chavan was performing his official duties sincerely with total dedication. All the members of the War Room and others present in Video Conference stood up and maintained 2 minutes’ silence as homage to the departed soul.
2. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have tested 109 covid patients in Nehru Hospital Extension, out of which 43 belong to Punjab, 30 belong to Chandigarh, 11 to Haryana, 19 to Himachal Pradesh and 06 to other states. He also mentioned that out of 8,015 covid tests, 826 were found positive, which is nearly 10%. Dr. Jagat Ram further stated that the positivity rate is gradually coming down. PGIMER doctors also stated that COVIDSHIELD Vaccine was showing positive results.
Acting Director Principal, GMCH 32, Dr. Jasbinder Kaur stated that they have tested 4,218 covid samples, out of which 198 were found positive. Thus, there was positivity rate of 4.7%. She also mentioned that covid patients under home isolation have been provided with tele-consultation facility and a Rapid Response Team of medical staff is always available to attend to their emergency needs. She also mentioned that ENT and Dental OPDs have been made operational in the Medical College. She further mentioned that a Post-Covid Care Centre has been made functional from 12/12/2020, which caters to the medical needs of covid patients, who have recovered from the disease.
Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16 stated that they have tested 14,642 covid samples, out of which 996 were found positive. The positivity rate was 6.8%. The Medical Superintendent mentioned that during the last few days, 23,562 have been given OPD treatment. He also mentioned that all OPD facilities including Eyes, ENT & Dental have been opened for public. He also mentioned that 4,839 persons have been tested in Flu Clinic and 16,330 houses have been checked for Malaria. He further mentioned that there was no dengue case detected yesterday. Till date, there have been 256 dengue cases. He also mentioned that Mobile Covid Teams have been deployed at ISBT, Dhanas, Railway Station, Hallomajra, Sector 25 and Police Hospital, Sector 26.
3. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh requested all the medical institutions to keep preparations ready for covid vaccination. He also stressed that each hospital must have a Special Cell for post-covid monitoring. The Administrator directed that there should be an internal mortality audit, so that the fatality rate before and after covid could be assessed. He directed the doctors to focus on patients under Home Quarantine specially the vulnerable and those immuno-compromised, so that they are regularly monitored and can recover at the earliest.
4. The Administrator appealed to the private hospitals to provide details of their doctors and medical staff to the Administration, so that these medical workers could be given priority during covid vaccination, as per the norms fixed by Central Government.
5. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 2,189 active cases, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 446 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 766 active cases.
6. Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that the Administration has challaned 32,000 persons for violation of covid norms; such as non-wearing of masks, social distancing etc. He also mentioned that ban on hookah bars has been extended by another 60 days.
7. The Administrator was glad to find that no surge of covid cases has taken place during festive seasons. He appealed to residents to continue to follow covid protocol like mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing. He also wanted dedicated teams to visit covid patients under home quarantine to be screened regularly and given medicines and oxymetres.
