Interaction with Public Representatives about relocation of occupants of Pre-Fab Shelters of Sector-52 & 56 to Maloya-I
Chandigarh sunita shastri :

The Chandigarh Administration has decided to re-locate the residents of Pre-fab shelters in Sector 52 & 56 to EWS flats constructed by Chandigarh Housing Board in Maloya-I. In this connection, today a meeting was held with the local public representatives which was attended by the following:

Shri Rajesh Kalia, Municipal Councilor, shri Satish Kainth, Municipal Councilor, Shri Gopal Shukla, (representative of Smt. Chandrawati Shukla, Municipal Councilor)
It was informed that the project will be implemented under the Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHCs) Scheme, formulated by the Government of India. The allottees will be required to pay monthly rent of Rs. 3,000/-, which will be increased biennially by 8%. The total rental period will be for maximum 25 years. The Public Representatives were also informed that the list of occupants at Pre-fab shelters in Sector 52 & 56 has been pasted on site and also uploaded on the official website of Chandigarh Housing Board i.e.www.chbonline.in. Any person having any objection to the names in the list may give complaint/suggestion by 22/10/2020 to the Chandigarh Housing Board. The process and preparations for smooth shifting of the residents were discussed in the detail. The following suggestions of the PublicRepresentatives were agreed by the Chandigarh Housing Board.

1. A camp should be organized and the residents should be properly guided by the Chandigarh Housing Board to complete the formalities.

2. Single window facility should be provided during the camp so that the residents need not to run around for electricity and water connections for new flats at Maloya-I.
3. To avoid extra crowdand to maintain social distancing during COVID situation, residents should be called to the campin staggered way.

Further there should be sufficient number of counters so that the residents are not required to wait for long in the queues.

4. The application forms should be distributed to the resident in the Pre-Fab Shelters itself, about a day or two before their turn in the camp, so that they complete the documentation prior to attending the camp.

5. The allotment of specific flat on rental basis at Maloya-I should be through computerized draw in a fair & transparent manner. The draw should be held at least two-three days before the actual shifting so that the residents have some time to make preparations for moving out.
