75K banned tablets seized from medicos owner, two held
Chandigarh, Oct 2 – Haryana Police have arrested a chemist shop owner for carrying banned medicines in a car after it recovered 75,000 tablets fallen under the category of prohibited drugs in Kurukshetra district. Police have also arrested a supplier of prohibited tablets.
While stating this here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson said that after getting specific information about smuggling of banned medicines by owner of Kishore medicos, a Police team had intercepted a car at a naka on Ladwa-Kurukshetra road. The search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 75,000 Microlit tablets, a prohibited pharma drug.
After catching the chemist shop owner, police informed the Drug Control Officer, Kurukshetra. After verifying the facts, a case under NDPS Act has been registered against the accused identified as Kishore Kumar of village Khanpur Kolia.
During preliminary interrogation, accused revealed that he had purchased the seized tablets from a resident of Mehra village in Kurukshetra district. Furthering the investigations, police had also arrested supplier Sushil Kumar alias Pintu.
A remand would be sought by producing them in the court for further interrogation.
In a separate incident, Police in Fatehabad district had arrested two motorcyclists after it recovered 10,000 banned tablets from their possession. In the police interrogation, both accused said that they had purchased these drugs from a person from Gabipur. The police have intensified efforts to nab the supplier. Further probe is underway.
