Haryana Police seize Rs 93500 counterfeit currency, one held

Chandigarh, Sept 2 – Haryana Police have busted a gang involved in printing of fake currency after it seized counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 93,500, a printing machine and 584 currency size papers in Sirsa district. A person also arrested in this connection.

While stating this here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police said that police team had got secret input about printing of fake currency in village Kharia, where a person associated with printing and supply of fake currency. Upon receiving information, a police team was constituted which conducted a raid and arrested a person from whom four currency notes in denomination of 2000, 167 notes in denomination of 500, nine notes of 200 and two notes in denomination of 100 were recovered. Police have also seized a printing machine and 584 papers in currency size.

Arrested accused was identified as Manohar Lal, a resident of Kharia. However, one of his associates managed to escape who had been identified and arrested shortly. A case has been registered in the matter and further investigation is underway.

It is worthwhile to mention that recently Police have seized counterfeit currency of Rs 3 lakh from two persons including a woman in Sirsa district.
