Surinder Verma Chairman Citizen Awareness Group and Maa Saraswati Music Group Chandigarh paid rich tribute to Laxmi Bai , the Maharani of Jhansi on her 162nd death anniversary .

She was one of the leading figures of Indian rebellion in 1857 and became symbol of resistance to British raj for indian nationalists .She died in 18th june 1858 and proved that women played a great part in Indian freedom movement
