“Remembering the Heroes, Celebrating the Victory!” – Kargil Divas Celebration Organized by DCSA of Panjab University on 31st July 2024

The Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA) at Panjab University organized a heartfelt and patriotic Kargil Divas event on 31st July 2024, under the banner “Remembering the Heroes, Celebrating the Victory!” to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers during the Kargil War. The event was meticulously planned, with various activities and tributes honoring the heroes of Kargil.

The celebration began with a quote writing competition and quiz rounds, engaging students in reflective and intellectual activities. Following this, faculty members, staff, and research scholars joined in for the main event. The program included an introductory poem and a brief on Kargil Vijay, setting a respectful and solemn tone for the day.

Dr. Anuj Sharma, the Chairperson, delivered an inspiring address, followed by a screening of a short film on Kargil, sharing insights into the historical significance of the war. Special mentions were made of alumni currently serving in the army, fostering a sense of pride and connection among the attendees. A touching video tribute from DAV College, Sector 10, added to the emotional atmosphere of the event.

Dr. Kavita Taneja, the Event Coordinator, along with department professors and invited guests, spoke about the significance of Kargil Divas, emphasizing the courage and dedication of the soldiers. Students and faculty members with army connections also shared their inspiring stories, motivating everyone present. The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the quiz and quote writing competition, followed by group photographs and a volunteers’ medal ceremony.
