The Cardiac Anaesthesia Division of Department of Anesthesia & Intensive Care, PGI conducted a unique workshop on Hemodynamic Monitoring in Neonates
On behalf of the 3rd National Conference of Neonatal Anesthesia Society, Prof. Banashree Mandal (organizing secretory) under the able guidance of Organising Chairperson, Prof. Bhupesh Kumar (In-Charge, Cardiac Anesthesia & Intensive Care) has organised the Neonates workshop at Advanced Cardiac Center,PGI. The scientific content of the workshop covered all aspect of hemodynamic monitoring for sick neonates, whether for stabilization before any surgery for congenital defects, like tracheoesophageal fistula, congenital diaphragmatic hernia or anorectal malformations, or stabilization of neonates with congenital cardiac defects like, patent ductus arteriosus, ventricular septal defect or coarctation of aorta, etc. The faculty of the workshop were from various departments dealing with neonates at PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. Shiv Sajan Saini (Associate Professor, Neonatology), Dr. Suresh Angurana (Associate Professor Paediatric Critical Care, Dr. Shivani (Assistant Professor, Pediatric Surgery), Dr. Parag (Additional Professor Cardiology), faculties of Cardiac Anaesthesia division ( Dr. Sunder Negi, Dr. Indranil Biswas, Dr. Kulbhushan Saini, Dr. Rajarajan, Dr KP Gaurav, Dr Ira Dhavan) and Pediatric Anesthesia (Dr Akriti) of PGIMER, Chandigarh. The delegates from different part of country working in the field of pediatric anaesthesia and cardiac anaesthesia participated in the workshop. They learned about transthoracic echocardiography on healthy neonates and had interactive PBLD stations with experts. The Chief Guest for the workshop, Prof. RK Ratho, Dean Academics, PGIMER, Chandigarh, proposed that, this workshop indicates towards starting of Special Summer or Winter short programs, PGIMER taking lead, where a multidisciplinary team of the kind involved in the workshop, can train doctors from various part of the country with diverse aspect of hemodynamic management of sick neonates, in the direction of capacity building and nation building.
