Monsoon Prepadnes By Engineering Department

Chandigarh,3rd July,2024.As monsoon is arrived Chandigarh on the 1st week of July, so in order to have minimum inconvenience to general public and to maintain the regular supply of the Electricity during the monsoon period, the preventive preparedness has already been done by the Engineering Department, U.T. Chandigarh. The road gullies along major roads falling under the jurisdiction of Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration covering about 5000 road gullies has been cleaned to maintain regular flow of water during monsoon period. In addition the whole has been divided into 4 zone and dedicated team has been deployed which has been kept ready for carrying out the field job in case of requirement during the monsoon period.

The duties of the officials have been assigned at regulator end of Sukhna Lake on 24×7 basis to regularly monitor the water level of the Sukhna Lake during rainy season, so as to have smooth flow of discharge from Sukhna lake regulator end towards down-stream side. The 24×7 Control Room has also been established at Sukhna Lake regulator end having Ph. No. 0172-2991109 to monitor the discharge of lake at the regulator end and to co-ordinate with the concerned DCs of Chandigarh/Mohali to have proper communication during opening of flood gates in case of release of excess discharge from Sukhna Lake during monsoon period.

The required pruning of trees falling along 33/11KV distribution lines has been done to avoid disruption of power supply during monsoon season. The department has also established Citizen Fecilitation Centre (CFC) having Ph. No. 0172-4639999 to attend the public complaints regarding water logging, felling of trees and electricity complaints in case of any emergency during monsoon season.

In order to ensure that all such complaints received at the Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) regarding water logging, blockage/cleaning of road gullies, falling/pruning/pollarding of trees, maintaining regular supply of electricity, and other essential services are attended to in a timely manner, it is imperative to take prompt action. Accordingly, the Engineering Department, U.T. Chandigarh has deputed Superintending Engineers & Executive Engineers for proper monitoring and coordination with other departments of the administration as per their jurisdiction for early disposal of the complaints in a time bound and effective manner during the monsoon period to have minimum inconveninece to the general public.
