DGP Shatrujeet Kapur Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Sardar Patel E-Library at Police Lines in Kurukshetra

Chandigarh, May 28: Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur today inaugurated a state-of-the-art e-library at the Police Lines in Kurukshetra district.

DGP Kapur highlighted the immense benefits of the e-library for children pursuing higher education and students preparing for competitive examinations. He emphasized that an e-library is the need of the hour, providing essential study materials that will inspire students to learn and excel. This initiative by the police department aims to create a conducive learning environment for the children. He also announced that similar e-libraries are being set up by the Haryana Police in every district.

The e-library boasts state-of-the-art furniture for students, 20 computers for digital learning, 10 Kindles, and smart boards to ensure easy access to e-books in the digital age. Additionally, a foreign language learning center has been established within the library, offering online training in Spanish, French, Japanese, and English.

With more than 25,000 e-books provided by the World Reader Organization, the library also features an air-conditioned room accommodating up to 100 readers. The collection includes over 5,000 books in Hindi, English, and Punjabi, covering children’s literature, general knowledge, history, science, and essential materials for competitive examinations. The library is fully computerized and follows the principles of library classification, operating from 8 am to 8 pm daily. Children from DAV Police Public School welcomed Shri Kapur with a melodious welcome song.

The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including IGP Ambala Range Shivas Kavi Raj, Deputy Commissioner Kurukshetra Shantanu Sharma, SP Surender Singh Bhoria, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters Ashok Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash, DAV Police Public School Principal Monika Bhatia, school staff, and students.
