Bureau of Indian Standards celebrates 77th Foundation Day

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Northern Regional Office, Chandigarh celebrated its
77th foundation day on 6th January, 2024. On the occasion of this, a programme was organised in the campus of National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research, Chandigarh.

Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, Head, Chandigarh Branch Office, in his welcome address extended
hearty welcome to the Guest of Honour Prof. Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director, NIITR, Chief Guest Mr. Puneet Goyal, Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab, Members from industries present and Students. Mr. Rajeev P., Deputy Director General (North), in his keynote address reflected that the since its inception in 1947, BIS has been a cornerstone   in ensuring that our industries and products adhere to the highest standards, contributing to the overall development and progress of India.

Mr. Puneet Goyal in his inaugural address congratulated BIS for their consistent work in
ensuring quality ecosystem across the country. He appreciated BIS for their initiatives in
sensitising people at ground level and at schools. Further he also acknowledged the vital role played by BIS Care App in implementation of various conformity assessment and hallmarking schemes of BIS.

Prof. Bhola Ram Gurjar in his special address stated importance of quality products in day-today life of consumers and how BIS by its various conformity schemes ensures that quality products are provided to the consumers. He also appreciated the various initiatives taken by BIS to promote standards.

During the program students from various schools showcased their talents through a series of captivating cultural programs. The vibrant event not only served as platform for the artistic expression but also highlighted the initiatives taken by BIS in fostering the quality infrastructure in the country. At the end of the program students and industries were felicitated for the outstanding work in last few years. Mr. Saurabh Tiwari, Head, Haryana Branch Office give a vote of thanks of the members of the chair, and all deligates present.
