Lamp Lighting and oath taking ceremony for the 52 nd batch of B.Sc. Nursing organized at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

National Institute of Nursing Education, SNA Unit, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized lamp lighting and
oath taking ceremony for the 52 nd batch of B.Sc. Nursing 1 st year (4 years) course students on 12 th
December, 2023. This ceremony is held everywhere before the induction of students to clinical areas.
Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Additional Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, Chandigarh was the chief guest of
the day. Mrs. Jaspal Kaur (Chief Nursing Officer) and Deputy Nursing Superintendents also graced the
occasion. Dr Sukhpal Kaur, Principal NINE & President TNAI Chandigarh welcomed the guests. She
emphasized the importance of lamp lighting ceremony in nursing profession and contribution of Florence
Nightingale “Pioneer of Nursing Profession” in the field of nursing.
Prof. Ashok Kumar focused the attention of the audience to highlight the crucial role of nurses in
patient care and asked the students to be honest, punctual, sincere and empathetic while working with the
patients. He motivated them to work whole heartedly and enthusiastically with the patients. Sir also
highlighted the role of Ms. Florence Nightingale in upbringing the profession and motivated the Novice
students to follow the footsteps of the Pioneer. The event concluded with lamp lighting and oath taking
ceremony by the students which was conducted by Mrs. Shruti, Advisor, Student Nursing Association
(SNA). Mrs. Manpreet Kaur and her team along with student SNA executives organized the programme.
