2nd day (08.11.2023) of PUNJAB celebrating “JAL DIWALI – Women for Water, Water for Women” from 7th November, 2023 to 9th November, 2023

Jal Diwali -“Women for Water, Water for Women Campaign, is being celebrated in the State of PUNJAB under the flagship schemes of Government of India – Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), in partnership with the Ministry’s National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) from 7th November, 2023 to 9th November, 2023.
Under Phase I of Jal Diwali campaign, 10 nos. of Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) across the State of Punjab have been selected for conducting the visit of women SHGs so as to apprise them of the Water infrastructure including functioning of Water Treatment Plants & water testing facilities. This campaign also lays emphasis on promoting involvement of women through articles & souvenirs created by Women SHGs. State and city officials from AMRUT and NULM will be facilitating these visits to WTPs.
On the 2nd day i.e. 08.11.2023, teams from Municipal Corporation, Faridkot, Mansa, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Nangal conducted the visit of more than 150 nos. of women of SHGs to WTPs in these cities. Nodal officers explained the process and procedures of purifying water to the visiting women. They were also apprised of the water quality testing protocols.
Blue Bags, water bottles. steel glasses were given as souvenirs and refreshments were served as a gesture of thanks to the women SHGs.
