BIOSPECTACLE- WHEN NATURE TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT (DAY 1)
Climate Change Cell Chandigarh and Central Bureau of Communication Chandigarh Join hands for “Biospectacle: When Nature Takes the Spotlight” Carnival*
Chandigarh, September 28, 2023 – The Climate Change Cell, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Communication Chandigarh, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India along with Swarmani Youth Welfare Association, Chandigarh, have united with various government departments, public sector units (PSUs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to orchestrate an extraordinary state-level Bio-Carnival dedicated to the conservation of our environment.
This exceptional event, aptly named “Biospectacle: When Nature Takes the Spotlight,” has received overwhelming support from esteemed partners, including the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), Spray Engineering Devices (SED) Limited, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, Rotary Chandigarh Midtown, Breaking Barriers, Chitkara International School, National Service Scheme, Inner Wheel Club, Manisha Foam Industry, Chitkara International School, and Jai Maa Departmental Store. The Carnival is scheduled to enchant visitors on the 27th and 28th of October 2023 within the idyllic surroundings of Chandigarh Botanical Garden & Nature Park, Sarangpur, U.T. Chandigarh.
The Carnival was graced by the presence of Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, Chandigarh U.T., who, as the chief guest, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the collective environmental endeavor. He encouraged attendees, especially the youth, to embrace the mantra of “LiFE” (Living in an Environmentally Friendly way) as a means to protect our environment. He further appreciated the organizers for their efforts and highlighted that the event clearly aligns with the vision of Chandigarh towards sustainability.
Mr. Navneet Kumar Srivastava, introduced the event to the participants and guests. Over the course of two days, the event featured a diverse range of competitions and activities, including art exhibitions, pottery making, displays of innovative waste-to-use products, interactive quizzes, and engaging games. The active participation of nearly 1000 students from various schools underscored the vital importance of fostering environmental awareness and preservation among the younger generation.
Sh. T.C. Nautiyal, Director (Environment) also graced the event with his presence, further emphasizing the significance of collective endeavors aimed at safeguarding our environment. He emphasized that this event is a medium to connect to the nature. He further elaborated that the mission behind establishing Chandigarh Botanical Garden and Nature Park was to create awareness among youth about the importance of nature which is the main reason for organizing this event here.
The “Biospectacle: When Nature Takes the Spotlight” Carnival served as a remarkable demonstration of commitment to environmental preservation and education. It successfully brought together various stakeholders to emphasize the urgent necessity for collective action in addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental issues.
