Punjab Unites to Honor Heroes in “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign Launch

The nation stood as one today in commemorating the resounding launch of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, a heartfelt tribute to the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation. Under the captivating tagline “Mitti ko naman, veeron ka vandan,” this monumental initiative stands as a people-driven homage to the valiant heroes who have selflessly served the country. The campaign seeks to reignite the indomitable spirit of these gallant individuals, whose unwavering contributions have significantly shaped India’s journey through 75 years of independence.
In the spirited heartland of Punjab, the campaign unfurled through a series of impactful events across various cities, each throbbing with fervor and reverence. Jalandhar, a dynamic city brimming with energy, bore witness to the combined efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYKs) and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers. Here, citizens united to take the profound “Panch Pran Pledge,” reaffirming their commitment to shared values. Simultaneously, the launch of a “Vasudha Vandhan” plantation drive captured the nurturing essence of our beloved country, as 75 saplings took root in the soil.
Sangrur, a district blending tradition with progress, played host to a program orchestrated under the guidance of District Youth Officer Rahul Saini. A special felicitation ceremony recognized the dedicated service of retired army personnel Mr. Nardeep Singh and Mr. Hawa Singh. This event, in collaboration with NSS under the leadership of Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, NSS Professor, underscored the gravity of this monumental campaign.
In Faridkot, homage was paid to the families of Shaheed Balwinder Singh, a 1971 war martyr, and CRPF personnel Saheed Makhan Singh of Phillaur, Jalandhar, under the Veeron Ka Vandan component. The poignant event was marked by a symbolic flag hoisting, a testament to unity and patriotism.
Deputy Director of NSS, Jalandhar, Mr. Jaspal, lauded the initiative, stating, “The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign resonates with the core values of unity and respect for our heroes. Similar programs organized by NSS volunteers in Jalandhar, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and other places across the state reflect the profound impact of this movement.”
Even in Rupnagar district, the nurturing spirit flourished, as saplings were planted in all village schools, fostering a sense of environmental consciousness and growth.
The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign weaves together five integral components: the dedication of “Silaphalakam Memorials” honoring brave hearts, the “Panch Pran Pledge” signifying shared values, the “Vasudha Vandhan” initiative fostering environmental consciousness, “Veeron Ka Vandan” paying homage to our protectors and their families, and the crescendo of unity through “Flag Hoisting and Rashtragan.”
At its core, this campaign stands as a testament to India’s journey of progress and unity. Extending from August 9th to 15th at the Gram Panchayat level, it will span across blocks, states, culminating on August 29th-30th, 2023, in the national capital.
