National Statistical Office celebrated the “17th Statistics Day,2023” on 29th June ,2023 at Conference Hall, Kendriya Sadan, Sector-9, Chandigarh

In recognition of the notable contributions made by Professor P. C. Mahalanobis in the field of economics, planning and development of statistics, Regional Office Chandigarh. National Statistical Office celebrated the “17th Statistics Day,2023” on 29th June ,2023 at Conference Hall, Kendriya Sadan, Sector-9, Chandigarh to commemorate the birthday of the Father of Statistics “Shri P. C. Mahalanobis”. The theme for Statistics Day-2023 was “Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals”.
Sh. Kailash G. Sharma, Deputy Director General, NSSO (FOD), RO Chandigarh inaugurated the function and briefed about the biography of Shri. P. C. Mahalanobis and his contributions in the field of statistics.
On this ocassion the guest of honor Dr. Reji B, Assistant Director Census Operation Chandigarh gave details of contributions of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis in Indian Statistical System and Sh. Vasudev Sharma Ex SSO NSSO (FOD) RO Mohali shared his rich experience on the subject to field staff. The function was attended by 50 Officers, Officials and university students engaged in the field of Statistics. All participants offered floral tribute to Father of Statistics.
