International Day against Drug Abuse 2023
In this year official theme to observe International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was ‘People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention.’ The purpose of this year’s campaign was to increase public awareness towards significance of treating drug users with respect and empathy, giving voluntary, evidence-based services to everyone, providing alternatives to punishment, placing a high priority on prevention, and acting with compassion. Today Dr. Sushila Nayyar Working Women Hostel of Panjab University under the able leadership of warden Dr. Amritpal Kaur organized a pledge ceremony on the same theme. On this day administered, staff and students pledged not to use these harmful and illicit drugs and ensured to extend help and cooperation in spreading awareness about effects of consuming the drugs as well as make India drug free. They pledged that “Say yes to Life, No to drugs”.The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Warden to all present in this event.
