BIS organized Hallmarking Awareness Session for jewelers
Kalka, Haryana Branch Office of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chandigarh carried out a Jeweller Awareness Program for the members of Jewellers Association, Kalka on Monday at Kalka. Nikhil N Chandratre (Assistant Director), Haryana Branch Office of BIS welcomed the participants and apprised about the program objectives and the program was graced by the presence of Surinder Verma, Chairman, Citizens Awareness Group.
Nikhil Chandratre apprised the participants about Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery which has been made compulsory in 288 Districts of the Country by the Centre Government and online services available through BIS website www.bis.gov.in, www.manakonline.in and BIS CARE App. The participants were explained in detail about three components of BIS Hallmarking and verification of HUID number through BIS care app in a power point presentations .In this program the latest order issued by Ministry of Consumer affairs, Food & Public Distribution with respect to sale of only HUID hallmarked jewellery from 1 April 2023 was also discussed The participants were also made aware about consumer redressal mechanism available under ambit of Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and the manner of registering the grievances in case of complaints related to quality of Hallmarked Articles/Arte-facts. Meeting was attended by the president of jeweller association Kalka Ashok Kumar and more than 30 members of Jewellers Association, Kalka.
The participants appreciated the program organized by the Bureau and described it as beneficial. The meeting was ended by vote of thanks.
