DR PJ SINGH TAKES OVER AS CHAIRMAN, CII PUNJAB & MR ABHISHEK GUPTA AS VICE-CHAIRMAN, CII PUNJAB

Chandigarh, 21 March 2023: In its Annual Session for 2022-2023 in Chandigarh, CII Punjab announced Dr P J Singh, CMD, Tynor Orthotics Limited as its newly elected Chairman and Mr Abhishek Gupta, Chief – Strategic Marketing, Trident Limited as its Vice-Chairman.

Mr Amit Thapar, Chairman, CII Punjab & President, Ganga Acrowools Limited, in a ceremony, handed over the chairmanship of the State to Dr P J Singh, CMD, Tynor Orthotics Limited. Focusing on strengthening the MSME sector of Punjab, Dr P J Singh emphasized his focus areas for the coming year. He shared that he would help solve the industry’s issues and facilitate private equity and growth capital into the state to strengthen Punjab’s economic contribution to the nation.

Mr Abhishek Gupta, Chief – Strategic Marketing, Trident Limited, was elected as the Vice-Chairman for CII Punjab. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “The youth of Punjab has great skill and now is the time for entrepreneurs and innovators to take on the mantle to accelerate the journey and explore the future.”

Alongside the State Annual Meeting, a thought-provoking Session on the theme ‘MSMEs as Growth Engines of Punjab: Making the shift from Local to Global Competitiveness’ was presided over by Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State – Commerce & Industry, Government of India as the Chief Guest.

Speaking about the contribution of MSMEs at the national level, Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State – Commerce & Industry, Government of India said, “India has a large 7.9 million registered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) base. The MSME Industry segment contributes 33% of the Country’s GDP and generates over 120 million jobs across industries and regions in the country contributing towards wealth creation at the grassroot level”.

“In FY22 alone, 8.59 lakh women-led MSMEs got registered on Udyam portal which is 17% of the total MSME registration. As many as 63.4 million units contribute 6.11% of the manufacturing GDP and 24.63% of services GDP”, he added.
