Thalassaemic Charitable Trust PGI-GMCH Chandigarh in collaboration with department of Transfusion Medicine PGI Chandigarh has organised 272nd Blood Donation Camp on 11th March 2023 (Saturday) in PGIMER, Chandigarh for Thalasaemics and other serious patients requiring blood support.
This camp was organised in celebration of the birthday of Sh. Puneet Kalra son of Shri Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary. Shri Rajinder Kalra expressed deep gratitude to Head of Department and staff of Transfusion Medicine Department, PGIMER for their cooperation in conducting this Camp and all voluntary blood donors for the success of this Camp.
Hon’ble 54 voluntary blood donors donated blood in this camp, while 7 donors were rejected during medical examination before donation.
Thalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder which induces chronic anemia. Regular Blood transfusion after 15-20 days is a widely recommended treatment for maintaining optimal Hemoglobin level.
Thalassaemic Charitable Trust has been organising regular Blood Donation Camps and serving thalassaemics since 1985. Presently about 450 Thalasaemics are availing blood transfusion facilities in our two Day Care Centres in PGIMER & GMCH Chandigarh. Free medicines are also provided to poor patients by the Trust.
