Another shining feather on PGIMER’s cap
Prof. Kim Vaiphei, former HOD, Histopathology has been honoured with Emeritus Professorship by the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS).
As usual, another faculty of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh has done the institute proud. Professor Kim Vaiphei has been honoured with Emeritus Professorship by the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) in the convocation held at Jaipur November 2022. NAMS is an apex body in the field of medical science. The honorarium is for a period of five years and involves responsibility of mentoring academic activities of young doctors across India in all their scientific endeavours. Dr Kim retired from PGIMER by the end of December 2022 as the Head of Department of Histopathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, after serving the Institute as a renowned faculty member since 1990. Needless to say, her spotless integrity, straight forward attitude, dedication and commitment in academic, research and patient care activities in one of the most honoured and world class Institute, have enabled her to score and obtain such a high altitude status. Besides the innumerable awards and recognitions from various national and international academic organisations, Dr Kim is also a Fellow of NAMS (India), World Health Organisation and Indian College of Pathology. She had remained Secretary of Faculty Association of PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Vice president and President of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists. She has also written a book on interpretation of endoscopic biopsy.
