Senior Delegates of 19 countries participate in 10 Day International Public Health Management and Development Program at PGIMER Chandigarh
Public Health Best Practices of Chandigarh to be showcased by PGIMER to International Delegates of 19 Countries
A 10 Day International Public Health Management Development Program for Program Managers of 19 countries will kick-start at PGIMER Chandigarh from 21st February to 3rd March 2023. The program will be organized by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh in which 36 senior-level participants from 19 countries, namely Tanzania, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Botswana, Tajikistan, Oman, Mexico, Liberia, Zambia, Bhutan, South Sudan, Iraq, Mongolia, Mauritius, Ghana and Kingdom of Eswatini (Formerly Swaziland) will learn public health management practices of India which will help them to effectively manage policy and programs in their respective countries for achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). This program has trained 1015 participants from 81 countries since inception of this program in the year 2016.
This flagship program in public health has galvanized South- South development cooperation with 161 ITEC countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Pacific and Small Island countries under the ancient Indian philosophy ‘Vasudeva Kutumbakam’ i.e. world is one family, said Dr. Sonu Goel, Program Director, and Professor at Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The program shall be taught by eminent faculty, including Dr. S K Chadha, Former Director, UBS, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Prof. Amarjeet Singh Former Head, DCM&SPH, PGIMER, Dr. Keerti Pradhan, Professor Chitkara University; Dr. Vipin Koushal Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, Dr. Pankaj Arora, Associate Professor, PGIMER; Dr. Omesh Kumar Bharti State Epidemiologist , SIHFW , Department of Health & Family Welfare, HP, and Padma Shree Awardee; Dr Ashok Bhardwaj, NTF Tuberculosis Chairman, Dr. Ravinder Kumar Consultant at RNTCP Technical Support Network, HP; Dr. Gopal Chauhan, State Program Officer, NTCP, HP and Program Director, Dr. Sonu Goel. Besides, the participants will be going for a study tour to Shimla wherein they shall visit Indira Gandhi Medical Institute, the health and wellness centre, and Parimahal – Health and Family welfare Training centre where demonstration regarding telemedicine, digital program monitoring system, skill Lab, integrated approach, and digital surveillance of NCD etc will be held. They shall also be visiting selected departments of PGIMER to witness State-of-Art patient care services like tele-evidencing, telemedicine, organ donation facility (ROTTO) etc. The entire program will be delivered through various learning methodologies like case studies, management games, quizzes, role plays, videos, mobile applications.
Apart from this, a cultural event is planned on 27th February 2023 at Shimla, where participants can informally interact with each other for peer learning and networking for future endeavours. The course would end on 3rd March with a Valedictory ceremony awarding the best participants in various categories. After the program, they will make an Action Plan for their Country/Institution based upon the learning of program which will be followed up with submission of Action Plan Implementation Report after 3 months of program. The best country report shall be rewarded by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.
