Senior Citizens living life beyond retirement with Grey Shades
Chandigarh, December 22, 2022: Grey Shades, a not-for-profit organization founded by Inderpreet Singh, on Thursday Celebrated “Life Beyond Retirement” to honor young & spirited energies of aged & retired seniors paving the way to a healthy and active life at Community Centre Sector 18, Chandigarh joined by Mr. Vivek Atray, Ex IAS Author & Motivational Speaker as Chief Guest.
An inspirational play enacted by the senior citizens fellows of the organization which gave the message “Zindagi Jeeni hai, Guzaarni nahi hai” (one should lead the life cheerfully not just pass the time by being on this earth merely) left an indelible mark on everyone’s mind present there.
Mr. Vivek Atray applauded the unique concept of Grey Shades, “It is most organized and committed efforts to help the elderly of the Tricity and all seniors should take benefit of it”. He referred Grey Shades as an extension of “Adar Smmaan” project which was initiated by him in Panchkula during his service tenure as Deputy Commissioner. Mr. Atray also suggested valuable anecdotes to the elderly like when they feel like expressing something they can record an audio or video in their mobile phones to share it at their comfort. And also gave the precious message to practice forgiveness as he rightly mentioned a verse from Holy Bible ” Forgive your enemy seventy time seven. ”
The celebrations were further fortified by a beautiful video presentation by the family members of the fellows as they shared the positive changes in them after joining this fellowship program. The 100 Day Grey Shades Fellowship helps senior citizens with various methodologies and activities of the programme like Group Sessions, Dance Movement Therapy, and Expression through Art and Craft, writing therapy, food and nutrition, digital literacy, Mindfulness, yoga and meditation.
Naresh Mehta, Grey Shades Fellow mentioned, “In the second innings of our life, there is always a question, what next? There are three parts of our daily life, बीता हुआ कल, आज, और आने वाला कल. Wise people advise to let go of the past, fully enjoy our present, and be prepared for tomorrow. How to do this gracefully, is what Grey Shades teaches us. How? this cannot be explained in words, but only experienced by joining the organization.”
Mr. Inderpreet, the young founder of Grey Shades, working to bridge the gap between the society and the senior citizens shared his vision of bringing more energy into the lives of elderly to break the inertia of stillness and loneliness from their lives. He mentioned “Every Senior has a right to be active, healthy, lively & happy in life. Our lives are filled with goodness and grace given by our elder, so their aging years should be celebrated.”
The purposeful evening was culminated by cake cutting ceremony and clicking joyful pictures. The unique programme is aimed at helping them become a better version of themselves and to live a fulfilling and graceful post retirement life. Grey Shades is working to promote and provide a space for active aging to help seniors realize their potential, re-establish their confidence and self-esteem and live their golden years with enthusiasm and purpose.
Grey Shades Fellows Mrs. Rama Tripathi and Mr. P K Arora managed the stage.
