BIMMAR NAHI RAHA LACHAAR, HO RAHA MUFT UPCHAR” – with these lines Sh. Yashpal Garg, Secretary Health Chandigarh Administration handed over Ayushman Bharat Cards to NFSA Beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat today.

PMJAY is the world’s largest Government funded Health Assurance Scheme. This is a proud moment for Chandigarh, as approximately 50,000 families can avail benefits of PMJAY Scheme. Earlier, more than around 23,000 families were covered under this scheme according to SECC 2011.

The flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat is Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna and was launched by hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 23rd September 2018 to provide cashless healthcare benefits to poor and vulnerable families.

On this occasion Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health and Family welfare, Chandigarh Administration appraised that apart from Govt. Hospitals of Chandigarh, 21 Pvt. Hospitals were empanelled under this scheme which provides cashless excess to Health care services for beneficiaries at any empanelled hospital in India. This scheme covers medical insurance up to Rs.5 lakhs per family per year. It will help to mitigate catastrophic expenditure on medical treatment which pushes nearly 6 crores Indian into poverty each year. Even 3 days of pre hospitalization and 15 days of post- hospitalization expenses such as diagnostics and medicine are being provided to beneficiaries. For Ayushman Bharat Card there is no restriction on the family size, age or gender.
Secretary Health congratulated team of Health Department Chandigarh for their award as top performing state for highest Scheme Utilization in 2021-21 in the UT Category by Honorable Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare. He said it is a proud moment for Chandigarh that as of now more than 3 lakhs people are covered in this scheme.
