Cyclegiri group members, Dr. Sunaina Bansal, Mrs. Ankita Madan and Mr. Akshit Passi met Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh on Tuesday Evening and briefed him about the recent cycling rally organized in Kashmir by Indian Army, Dagger Division. 28 women from the tri-city participated in the rally (oldest being 63 years) held on 11.09.2022. They were among the 140 women cyclists from all across India. The ride was 65 km long, from Baramullah to Uri, Line of Control. The ride was held with an effort to motivate cycling amongst women and especially inspire Kashmiri women for fitness and to show solidarity with them. The mens’ cycling rally was held on 17/09/2022 and 6 men from Chandigarh participated in the rally, oldest being 54 years. The maximum participation in the event was from Chandigarh.
Cyclegiri is a 500 member group, active since 2017, to promote urban cycling in the city beautiful. Our members range from 8 years old children to 76 years old active cyclists.
Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh appreciated the efforts being made by Cyclegiri to promote cyling not only in Chandigarh but also in other parts of the country.
