Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), PGIMER, Chandigarh organized an Orientation Programme for the newly joined residents of various departments in the institute on 24 th September 2022. Dr. RahulChakravarty, President, ARD initiated the event and the orientation talk was delivered by Dr Sanjana K, Treasurer, ARD. The programme was attended by around 200 residents. The focus was to include ways and means by which residents can acculturate to the new environment. A glimpse of the Previous activities of the ARD and new additions like renovation of the gym, etc was provided. They were informed about the 24/7mental health crisis on call number, sexual harassment committee and other emergency numbers to be contacted when in need. Residents were invited to actively participate in various cultural, sports, literary and other miscellaneous activities during their tenure.
This was followed by a one-on-one interaction by the Director, PGIMER, Professor Dr Vivek Lal with the residents. He commenced the interaction with anecdotes from his initial days in PGIMER. He inspired the residents by invoking the ways of Swami Vivekananda and encouraged residents to become better than the best. His spirit of honesty and candour was welcomed by the gathering with several moments of cheering. Following this, he welcomed questions and each of the residents got an opportunity to introduce themselves and interact with him. We thank the Director for championing the causes of the ARD from the very beginning and wish to continue to receive his support and guidance.
