5th meeting to discuss the issue of interstate smuggling of liquor was held today under the chairmanship of Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Dharam Pal.
During the meeting, all states (i.e. Punjab, Haryana and U.T., Chandigarh) agreed to work in coordination with each other to curb the menace of interstate smuggling of liquor. Action taken by the states (i.e. Punjab, Haryana and U.T., Chandigarh) to curb interstate smuggling of liquor was reviewed.During the meeting it was decided that monthly meetings be held at the level of AETCs of the bordering districts of Punjab, Haryana and U.T., Chandigarh.
A quarterly review will be held at the level of ETC, U.T., Chandigarh. A bi-yearly review of the same would be held at the level of Finance Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh.
Chandigarh Administration has appointed AETC, U.T., Chandigarh as the Nodal Officer for coordinating all aspects of interstate smuggling of liquor between the states i.e. Punjab, Haryana and U.T., Chandigarh). The states reiterated their commitment to ensure that all efforts will be made to curb this menace.
