The first week of the 5th Rashtriya POSHAN Maah 2022 celebrations are going in the great swing. Till date more than eighteen thousand POSHAN awareness activities has been conducted by the Department of Women & Child Development in convergence with all the line departments.
One of the prominent activity carried out today is the Health Camps organized at Daria and Vikas nagar in convergence with the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre and Department of Pediatrics, GMSH-16, Chandigarh in which 1556 children has been screened and out of which 63 children have been refered to NRC for further adequate medical treatment.
Another major activity was the Awareness programme in convergence with Alcoholics Anonymous was organised for youth and Anganwadi Workers at Old Dharmshala, Behlana. The participants have been sensitized regarding harmful health effects of the drugs on human body and advised to live drug free life.
One of the notable activity also include the group counselling session organized at Maloya Flats, wherein the beneficiaries were made aware about food diversity and classification. The beneficiaries were also motivated to keep themselves hygienic by demonstrating steps of Hand Washing.
In addition to this under Poshan Maah, Comminity based event i.e. ‘Godbharai’ was celebrated. In which pregnant ladies were apprised about need of healthy diet, how to take care of new born and herself.
As outdoor activities two Nukad Nataks By Ravi Darpan Manch have been performed at Anganwadi Centres at Sector 32-C to aware the community members to take precautions and intake health diet during the conception period. Further, through their acts they explained about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and importance of complementary feeding. The Nukad Nataks ended up with the question answer round on POSHAN and healthy life style among the spectators.
Other activities includes Health talk on Diet and Regien during ANC & Importance of Breast feeding for child and mother at Kaimwala by the Department of AYUSH, Food safety awareness camp at Anganwari centre sector 41 & Palsora Village by FSSAI, NSS volunteers had organized interactive session among the community members in the presence of Programme officers of NSS, Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management has organized the healthy food recipe competition.
One of the most notable was the TOY making in classes in the schools, was organised in Chandigarh. The focus of this activity was on INDIGENOUS TOYS. Under this activity the students were awarded about various indigenous toys, their relationship with our glorious history, and how their use can make our economy better and help in AATM NIRBHAR BHARAT.The students of Chandigarh made toys using clay, wood, paper, cloth etc.
Department of Women & Child Development request the community members to visit your nearest Anganwadi centres to join hand together to be a part of POSHAN Abhiyaan to eradicate malnutrition from each corner of the UT Chandigarh.
