The Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA), Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a virtual cycling event on 14-15 August, 2022 to celebrate India 75th Independence day. The event was coordinated by Chairperson of the department Dr. Rohini Sharma and Assistant Professor Dr. Anuj Sharma. More than hundred cyclists registered for the event. The registered participants had to ride bicycle on 14 or 15 August and need to ride to draw pattern of ‘PU’ under 15 kilometers category or a pattern of ‘INDIA’ under 25 kilometers category. The other option for riders was to complete 15 or 25 kilometers of ride with independence day celebration photographs. The cycling activity was monitored through Strava app. Group ride participation was also invited under independence day celebrations with best photograph. In 15 km pattern ‘PU’, winners are Gagandeep, Aditya Gautam and Ritik. In 25 km pattern ‘INDIA’, winners are Gagandeep Singh and Amit Sharma. In 15 and 25 km photograph category, winners are Dr Romika Wadehra, Aman Singh, Sandeep Goel and Damanpreet. In group category, winning grups are Cyclegiri lead by Akshit Passi and Dil se lead by Amandeep Singh Romana. This is first kind of initiative taken by Panjab University, Chandigarh to organize virtual cycling event.
