A meeting under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh was held today regarding issue of shifting of the marble dealers situated in village Dhanas and Sarangpur.
It was apprised by SDM (Centre) that the dealers situated in the Marble Market in village Dhanas and Sarangpur are in violation of the provisions of “The Punjab New Capital (Periphery) Control Act, 1952.” Since these dealers are violating the provisions of the above said act, the demolition drive was carried out against which the Marble Traders Welfare Association file a writ petition in the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court.
In pursuance to the directions given by Hon’ble Court, planning has been done by the Department of Urban Planning U.T. Chandigarh to shift these dealers to alternate location. The proposed planning done by the Department was discussed in detail and suggestion of the dealers were taken thereof.
It was directed by Deputy Commissioner that the suggestions given by the dealers be considered as per rules and final plan be prepared so that further necessary action may be taken.
Sh. Tejdeep Saini PCS , SDM (Centre), Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora LAO , Sh. Mandeep Dhillon, Tehsildar, Officials of Urban Planning and Engineering Department of U.T. Chandigarh were also present in the meeting.
