(COVID Vaccination of children in UT Chandigarh)
Shri Dharampal, Adviser to Administrator again reviewed the status of positivity rate of COVID infection and vaccination in detail with the Secretary Health of UT Administration today. During the review, the Secretary Health informed that :
a) Daily positive cases are generally 10 to 12 and the weekly positivity rate is less than 01.00 % .
b) COVAXIN Vaccination of Children in the age group of 15 yrs to 18 yrs with first dose is about 98 % .
c) CorBEvax Vaccination of Children in the age group of 12yrs to 14yrs with first dose is about 60% .
2. After considering the present positivity rate and the status of COVID Vaccination in UT Chandigarh, the Adviser to Administrator has decided that :
• The decision of restricting unvaccinated students in the age group of 12 years to 18 years from attending the classes in physical mode w.e.f. 04.05.2022 is to be kept in abeyance till further orders.
• The Health Department, in close co-ordination with the Education Department, to continue with the efforts to complete the 100% vaccination with first dose for all the children in the age group of 12yrs to 18 years by 15th May 2022 positively.
3. Shri Dharampal, Adviser to Administrator UT stated that though the COVID vaccination is optional yet it is a duty of the Administration to educate and inform the citizens about its benefits. He again made an appeal to all the teachers in UT Chandigarh to educate/aware the children about the COVID vaccination. He also appealed to all the Parents to get their children vaccinated against COVID without any further delay.
