The Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a  visit of participants of the 47th APPPA Course being conducted by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi on 7th April 2022.  The event started with the PU anthem in presence of PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar followed by a welcome address by Dean Research, Professor Sudhir Kumar. IQAC Director Prof. Sanjeev Sharma highlighted the achievements of Panjab University in academics and research.

The Honorable Vice-Chancellor in his address to the visiting participants, Professors, and research scholars highlighted that Panjab University has excelled in the field of sports, research, science, and technologies, with a special focus on incubation centers. He emphasized about strengthening the collaborative relations with IIPA, focusing on interdisciplinarity

The Director-General of IIPA emphasized the objectives of the APPPA(Advanced Professional Program in Public Administration) course to bring professionalism to bureaucrats through attitude and behavior change in work culture. He detailed about the mechanisms to tackle the burning issues of the country such as the aging of the population, climate change, digitization, and automation.

After high tea, the technical session was started with the special lecture on “Governance for the People: Deficient Citizenship” delivered by Prof. Pramod Kumar, Director, Institute for Development and Communication. He mentioned about four types of deficits- “Trust Deficit, Dignity Deficit, Productivity Deficit, and Citizen Engagement Deficit”. He emphasized the critical need for governance reforms, reflective power, and a collaborative process in policymaking. His wit and humor were well received and appreciated by the audience. The lecture was followed by a detailed discussion and question-answer session.

Prof. B.S. Ghumman, Secretary IIPA, Regional Branch, Chandigarh made the presidential remarks and appreciated the lecture delivered by Prof. Pramod Kumar.

Dr. Bharati Garg, Coordinator, Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, and Dr. Bhawna Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Administration, Panjab University proposed the vote of thanks to special guests, participants, and research scholars.

After lunch, participants visited the Fine Arts Museum and Gandhi Bhawan.
