The Faculty Association of PGIMER strongly condemns the registration of criminal case against Dr. Archana Sharma, who had committed suicide in Rajasthan. We also demand the arrest of culprits under abetment for suicide case and strong action be taken against them so that such incidents would not be repeated in future. We request that there should be a legal mechanism at various levels in each state where doctors can appeal and seek support whenever they are pressed with unjust criminal charges. We also demand on behalf of all the doctors in the country that the Central Govt should bring a strong law for protecting the interests of medical professionals in case of violence against them.”
