39th Annual Athletic Meet Inaugurated at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46- Chandigarh

The 39th Annual Athletic Meet of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, was inaugurated here today. (Dr.) Abha Sudarshan, Principal of the College was the chief guest. She unfurled the college flag and declared the meet open. The event began with a march past by students ornately dressed in their uniforms. The torch relay and the oath taking ceremony followed. The sports meet witnessed active participation from the students in various sports activities like 5000 and 10000-metre race, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, slow cycle race, and tug-of-war.
In her address, Dr. Sudarshan, highlighted the pivotal role, sports play in the growth of a sound mind and a sound body and also teach honesty, teamwork and fair play. While underlining the importance of sports she stressed that students must participate in sports for the overall development of their personality. Prominent among those present were, Dr. Rajesh Kumar (Dean), Dr. Simmi Arora (Vice Principal), Dr. Rajinder Kaura, Head, Department of Physical Education.
