CITCO interacts with Hotel Association of Chandigarh
Chandigarh, March30th: As a part of ongoing CITCO week Celebrations, Chandigarh Industrial &Tourism Development Corporation LTD in association with Hospitality Association of Chandigarh organized a Conference on the ‘ Future prospects in Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Chandigarh ‘at Hotel Mountview here today. The agenda of the conclave was to highlight and discuss the new trends and growth happening globally. The conference was attended by the members of the Hotel association of Chandigarh. Around 15 members shared the platform and put forth their views.
The primary objective was to bring the prominent Hoteliers on a common platform along with Hospitality and Tourism Fraternity across Chandigarh to put forth strategies which would bring more tourists to this region with better facilities and amenities for the tourists. The idea behind the meet was to convert the City Beautiful to the City of Love on weekends by promoting & introducing the new social lifestyle that can cater to the new emerging Chandigarh as a lifestyle city.
The Managing Director CITCO, Ms Purva Garg, IAS & Chief General Manager , Mr. Rubinderjeet Singh Brar emphasized that the Tourism is the Engine of growth for the Economy of the State. She further stated that the Government will play a catalytic role in promotion of Tourism but the thrust has to be given to provide better and more amenities to the Tourists by the players in the private Sector of the Tourism Industry, to promote Domestic Tourism which forms the largest component of Tourism Business in Chandigarh, also foreign tourists visit Chandigarh to explore architecture, culture which should be showcased through Tourism.
Chairman of the Association, Mr. Manmohan Singh highlighted that the city beautiful is turning into a weekend destination and special weekend offers and festivals can be introduced to lure the clientele. During the forum it was discussed that a special tour package may be introduced for the tourists to cover the heritage sites of Chandigarh, architectural walks and the French connection which the city has inculcated as a thought put in by Le Corbusier. Special trekking, shopping and food Circuits may be incepted which shall focus on the Hospitality & Tourism of the City of Love.
Creation of volunteer guide banks was another concept, with the inception of the same, will give a new definition to the Tourism Industry.
