Union Minister for Minority Affairs & Deputy Leader, Rajya Sabha, Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said here that “Hunar Haat” is a “Perfect and Phenomenal Paradigm” of “Unity in Diversity” and “Sarvdharm Sambhav”.

While addressing a press conference at 39th “Hunar Haat”, organised at Chandigarh, Shri Naqvi today said that “Hunar is Dharma”, “Kaushal is Karma” of artisans and craftsmen. “Hunar Haat” is a spectacular illustration of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.

“Hunar Haat” at Chandigarh will be inaugurated by Hon’ble Punjab Governor and Administrator, Chandigarh, Shri Banwarilal Purohit tomorrow 26th March at 11 AM.

Shri Naqvi said that “Hunar Haat” has proved to be an effective campaign of “Encouragement to Expertise”, “Backup to Brilliance” and “Market to Marvels”. “Hunar Haat” has provided employment and employment opportunities to more than 8 lakh 50,000 indigenous artisans and craftsmen and other people associated with them in the last about 7 years. More than 50 per cent of these beneficiaries are women artisans. This is the testament to the successful on-going journey of “Hunar Haat”.

Shri Naqvi said that “Hunar Haat” has proved to be a “perfect platform” to strengthen Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to “Vocal for Local” and “Self-reliant India”. “Hunar Haat” has brought revolutionary changes in the lives of artisans and craftsmen even from remote areas of the country by bringing them into mainstream economic development.

Shri Naqvi said that “Hunar Haat” is a “Credible Brand” of “Protection, Preservation, Promotion” of indigenous traditional arts and crafts.

Shri Naqvi said that more than 720 artisans and craftsmen, including a large number of women artisans, from more than 31 States/UTs are participating at “Hunar Haat”, organised from 25th March to 03rd April, 2022 at Parade Ground, Sector-17, Chandigarh. Artisans and craftsmen from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Goa, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Ladakh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu-Kashmir, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other places of the country have brought with them indigenous products at Chandigarh “Hunar Haat”.

He said that the visitors at “Hunar Haat” will also enjoy traditional foods from different regions of the country at “Bawarchikhana” section. Besides, “Mera Ganv, Mera Desh”, “Vishwakarma Vatika”, circus, “Mahabharata” show, musical and cultural programmes, selfie points etc are major attraction of Chandigarh “Hunar Haat”. Shri Naqvi said that renowned artists such as Pankaj Udhas, Suresh Wadkar, Amit Kumar, Sudesh Bhosle, Kavita Paudwal, Altaf Raja, Rekha Raj, Bhupinder Singh Bhuppi, Ankita Pathak, Bhoomi Trivedi, Jasbir Jassi, Upasana Singh, Anil Bhatt, Shailendra Singh, Nooran Sisters, Bhumika Malick, Priya Malick, Saira Khan, Vivek Mishra, Siddhant Bhosle will perform at “Hunar Haat” in Chandigarh every evening.

Shri Naqvi said that “Hunar Haat” will also be organised in Pune, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Patna, Mumbai, Jammu, Chennai, Agra, Prayagraj, Goa, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Kota, Sikkim, Srinagar, Leh, Shillong, Ranchi, Agartala and other places in the coming days.
