Review the issue of paid parking and bring it to the house: Congress

Chandigarh Congress spokesperson Rajesh Sharma has demanded a re-review of the issue of paid parking and it should be discussed in the upcoming Municipal Corporation meeting. He said that, to say that, the parking of the city is called smart. The dream of smart parking was also shown by former councilor and BJP chief Arun Sood and his party’s MP Kirron Kher in the meeting of Municipal Corporation three years ago, but this dream turned out to be another Jumla, in return for which people are being cheated.
The parking contractor had earlier claimed concession in fees in the name of Covid pandemic. But due to protests last year, the fee relief was not given. Then there was the defaulter regarding payment of money.
The Congress spokesperson raised the question as to why the contract was not changed when the attitude of the contractor was arbitrary. On the contrary, at the rate of 20 percent annually, the burden is being put on the public. He further said that when the contractor was denied fee relief in 2020, he had even expressed his inability to operate the parking lots.
Congress spokesperson has asked whether BJP had promised the public during the municipal elections that the rates of paid parking would be increased.
Now by allowing hike in parking fee, it proves that the BJP government works against the public and only for the interests of the contractors.
Last year, even the administrator’s advisor had been angry about the condition of the city’s divided parking into Zone 1 and Zone 2.
Sharma demanded that the increased rates should be returned.
