Dr Santosh K Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, and Prof Kashmir Singh of Biotechnology Department of Panjab University Chandigarh have been granted a project on “Functional characterization of TaMSL5-D of bread wheat” by Science and Engineering research Board (SERB), Govt of India. The total cost of project is approx 62 lac. They will work on function of MSL5-D gene on abiotic stress tolerance in plants especially wheat. The gene will then be used for development of drought and salt tolerant varieties of wheat that can better cope with climate changes.
