Haryana Police arrests two for possession and peddling drugs
53 kg ganja, 405 gm opium seized
Seized drugs are estimated to Rs 15 lakh
Chandigarh, Dec 27 – Under the ongoing drive against drug abuse, Haryana police has seized 53 kg 520 gm of ganja and 405-gram opium during a raid at a drug gang’s hideout in Kaithal district.
Sharing the details, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that two persons were arrested in the raids conducted following a tip-off.
The seized drugs were estimated to Rs 15 lakh in the market.
Those arrested were identified as Neeraj, a resident of Assandh in Karnal, and Jitender Kumar of Mandi Gobindgarh, district Fatehgarh, Punjab.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Anti-narcotic cell raided the house of the Mayapur colony and recovered the contraband from the possession of the accused. While opium was recovered from Jitender, ganja was seized from the possession of both accused.
A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A detailed investigation is underway, he added.
