Celebrations of Chandigarh Urban Festival CUF22 to begin from 20 Feb to 27 Feb 2022.
Chandigarh Administration is supporting ACT Chandigarh Society with residents (RWA’s), Educational institutes, Corporates, NGO’s and regional, cultural & sports clubs/ groups etc. to organize Chandigarh Urban Festival ( CUF 22).
The theme of the week long festival is to celebrate togetherness and love for City Beautiful Chandigarh- APNA SHEHAR APNA JASHAN, through various cultural and sports activities that reflect the true nature of Chandigarhians and represent the soul of the Chandigarh Tricity.
This year, it has been decided that the City Celebration of CUF 22 will coincide with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to add to the nationalistic fervour and also with the annual Rose Festival so as to add colour to the vibrant atmosphere all across the city.
There will be performances, competitions, exhibitions, food, music, art, theatre, learning, sports as well as commercial stalls with the backdrop of majestic Shivaliks on the people’s avenue Janmarg.
Keeping with the format of CUF 22 as described above, individuals as well as groups from Tricity are hereby invited to come forward to give their ideas and entries for organizing/ showcasing their event(s) on or before 20th Jan 2022. After all the entries are received, a final calendar for the events selected and finalized shall be prepared and announced.
Accordingly further rehearsals and coordination with the selected event organisers will be undertaken.
The inaugural of City Celebration CUF 22 will be held at the Open Hand Monument in Sector-1 on 20 February, Sunday; the venue for following week-long activities will be the Sector-17 plaza, the Lakes in sec-6 and sector -42, the Tourism centre in sector-1, the Rock Garden, Sec-10 Art Gallery & Museum, Gandhi Bhavan etc.; the activities in the final weekend of 25-26-27 Feb will be concentrated on the JanMarg- the ceremonial street of Chandigarh; Like every year the grand finale on 27 th, Sunday will include a colourful carnival from Matka chowk to the Tourism centre culminating with a breathtaking display of sky lanterns in People’s Plaza opp the High Court. A few build up events in the period prior to the festival will be conducted in different parts of the city.
Prizes will be given away for various competitions during the festival week and also for carnival performances, tableaus and synchronized sky-lantern events on the finale on 27th February. Certificates will be provided to all participants.
