Haryana government should withdraw Land Acquisition Amendment Bill for benefit of farmers – Kumari Selja

Chandigarh, December 20 – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill of the BJP-JJP government is anti-farmer, anti-poor and pro-corporate. It should be withdrawn immediately on the lines of anti-agriculture black laws.
Kumari Selja said that due to lapses in the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill passed in the monsoon session, the Governor has not approved it. The government should withdraw this bill in the interest of farmers.
Kumari Selja said that this bill was brought by the BJP-JJP government to hand over the lands of farmers to their capitalist friends. This government is ready to go to any extent to destroy the farmers and benefit its capitalist friends. The BJP-JJP government has written another chapter to ruin the farmers by making changes in the land acquisition law made by the UPA government. Now, even for PPP mode projects, land can be acquired without the consent of the farmers. The government has made preparations to grab the land of Haryana through amendment, she added.
Kumari Selja said that earlier for the project to be built under PPP mode, consent of 70 percent farmers was required for land acquisition, but now consent will not be taken from farmers for land acquisition. What greater atrocity than this would be committed on farmers that their land would be snatched away without their consent. With this amendment, the power of the collector will increase and the government will be able to do whatever it wants against the farmers. The more harmful thing for the farmers is that now the social impact and agricultural production from the land will not be evaluated while acquiring the land, said Kumari Selja.
Kumari Selja said that the provision of not issuing any notice is also treacherous. From this, it will not be known whether the acquisition of land has been done with the will of the farmer or not, because when the notice is not issued then how will the investigation be done? The farmer can be removed from the land immediately. Where will the farmer go? The land can be vacated even at midnight, she added.
Kumari Selja said that in order to ruin the farmers, the BJP government at the Center made three anti-agriculture black laws, but the government finally had to bow down to the peaceful agitation by farmers and the government had to repeal all three black laws. Haryana government should also take a lesson from this that the farmers of the country and the state will not tolerate such steps at any cost, said Kumari Selja.
