Chandigarh, 11th November 2021: The Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology,
UT, Chandigarh is distributing free food grains (wheat) under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY).
Under this scheme, each eligible beneficiary is getting 5 Kg wheat per month for the period July to November, 2021. The Department is distributing 25 Kg wheat per person for five months in one go. This is in addition to the DBT Food
subsidy.
The distribution is still going on at 12 centers of the city i.e. Community Center Shivalik Garden Manimajra, Community Center Vikas Nagar Mauli jagran, Community Center BapuDham Sector 26, Community Center EWS Dhanas, Community Center Maloya Colony, Community Center Sector 15, Community Center Sector 29, Community Center Sector 37, Community Center DMC, Sports Complex Sector 56, Kataria Dispensary Ram Darbar & NCCF Godown Plot No. 44, Industrial Area.At present 91% registered beneficiaries have got their free ration and 9% beneficiaries are still pending. To cover left out beneficiaries, the department is making telephonic calls at their registered mobile numbers and also contacted their area Municipal Councilors to locate the beneficiaries. All the left out registered beneficiaries are advised to get their ration under PMGKAY Scheme by visiting any nearest above mentioned distribution center upto 30.11.2021.
To cover the migrant persons under the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme, the department is carrying out awareness generation campaigns at Labour Chowks, Construction Sites and Resettlement Colonies through Mobile Van. Banners are also displayed at prominent places. For the purpose, a dedicated toll free number ‘14445’ and service window is set up in the department for the registration of the migrant persons. All the migrant persons who want to avail benefits under the ONORC Scheme are advised to visit the office of District Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs Officer, Sector 17, U.T., Chandigarh between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm on any working days.
