Haryana DGP presents cheque of Rs 65 lakh to martyr family
Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), Sh. P.K. Agrawal has presented cheques of Rs 65 lakh to family members of Late Constable Sandeep Narwal, who attained martyrdom during an encounter with miscreants in Haridwar, Uttrakhand.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family, the DGP said that Constable Sandeep would be long remembered for his bravery and exceptional services to the Police Department. He also interacted with the next of kin of the martyr and said that all possible assistance would be provided to them under the welfare schemes of the Haryana Police.
Under the accidental death insurance cover, a cheque of Rs 55 lakh was received by Smt. Neelam, wife of the martyr Sandeep and Rs five lakh each by Smt Sona Devi, mother and Sh. Krishan, father of the martyr cop.
The brave police personnel had attained martyrdom in an encounter with miscreants during a raid conducted by crime branch in Haridwar on September 30, this year.
Others present on this occasion included ADGP (Modernization and Welfare) Sh. Alok Kumar Roy, IGP (Modernization) Sh. Amitabh Singh Dhillon, AIG Welfare Sh. Hamid Akhtar, Branch Banking Head of HDFC, Sh Vineet Arora, Circle Head Sh. Vikas Kochhar, Zonal Head, Sh. Sudhir, Nodal Officer Sh. Vipin Gupta and family members of the martyr.
This financial assistance has been provided under the Accidental Death Insurance Cover Agreement exchanged between Haryana Police and HDFC Bank.
