Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College organized a online webinar on ‘Autonomous Colleges’ today. The Former Chairman, UGC, New Delhi, Prof Ved Prakash, delved on the subject of giving autonomy to the colleges. The webinar was attended by the faculty members of the college.
President GGDSD College Society, Shri Upkar Krishan Sharma, welcomed Prof Ved Prakash and said we have constituted a high powered Committee and have been organizing webinars and seminars for deliberations to understand the status of the autonomous Colleges.
Prof Ved Prakash, in his address paid tribute to the founders of the college for laying the foundation of such prestigious institution forty-eight years back. He spoke in two parts first the Concept of Autonomy and second, about the schemes for autonomous colleges.
He began by quoting Daniel H.Pink , an American author , Controls leads to compliance ,autonomy leads to engagement .”
He said, we should adhere to national policies with the sense of responsibilities. He threw light on factors highlighting achievements of excellence, visionary leadership, commitment of teachers, transparent governance for decision making, flexibility, foresightedness and decentralization. He also highlighted on five virtues originality, creativity honesty, intellect, dissent. He emphasized that dissent should have a new perspective of inviting wide spectrum of experts and have an inclusive discussion to arrive at a correct consensus.
Principal Dr Ajay Sharma, thanked Prof Ved Prakash for an insightful session and sparing time from his busy schedule.
