The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh inaugurated its Television and Radio Studio today. Mr. Rabindra Narayan, MD and President, PTC Network was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. Nikhil Mishra, Vice President, Music and Movies, PTC was also present.
Mr. Narayan said, “I am glad this college focuses on application of knowledge rather than theoretical education.
Reminiscing about his journey, he said, “When I started out, one learned on the job, by committing mistakes. Teachers should let students fall, and pick them up when required.
He further added, “The curriculum should encourage free thinking, new innovation. Students should not be restricted. One should dream of reaching the stars, and only can one reach the roof. Challenge yourself daily, set new goals. Good creation does not need money, it takes skills, dedication and perseverance. The world can rob you of everything, but not of your talent. ”
Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of the college stated, “Our college is an institution that learns and changes itself with the times. There is a need to have tie ups with the industry today as we need to go beyond traditional learning methods.”
Dr Priya Chadha, Head ,Department of Journalism and Mass Communication said keeping in mind the National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, we have introduced new course B.Voc in Media and Entertainment this year . The setting up of Television and Radio Studio and new course aims to empower our budding journalists with skill sets which will make them more employable and productive in the work environment.
The department also screened its documentary Ankahi Ansuni on the tough lives of band men and a docu-drama Promises on honour killing.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mr. U.K. Sharma and Dr. Anirudh Joshi, President and General Secretary, GGDSD College Society respectively.
