POSHAN Maah is being celebrated with enormous zeal & enthusiasm with a plethora of activities in the community at the grass root level.

20th September, 2021- These activities are organized every day and focus on the targeted audience of lactating mothers, pregnant women, nursing mothers and adolescent children. The problem of malnourishment is being addressed in Chandigarh through activities themed on Adolescents Diet, Anaemia, Breastfeeding, First 1000 Days, Diarrhoea, Handwash and Sanitation and POSHTIK Aahar.

Nutrition is critical to all the stages, therefore a quiz competition among adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating women was organised at Butrela Anganwadi Building. The beneficiaries were given information regarding the importance of Poshan and ways to combat malnourishment. A drawing competition on the theme of “Health and Nutrition ki potli” was also organized in Bapudham Colony at 1: 15 PM.

A cycle rally was organised at RC Dhanas-I, wherein the beneficiaries were given refreshments and informed about the nutritional values of various foods. The message of this activity was to inculcate the practice of daily exercise, in the onlookers for a healthy and fit body and mind. Another Cycle rally was organised on theme of ‘Poshtik Aahar’ in Sector 25, wherein 250 beneficiaries participated.

Various activities were also conducted such as awareness on the importance of yoga, Poster competition, Awareness on breastfeeding within one hour after birth, Height and weight measurement drive for children, Home visits for 1st-trimester pregnant women, Importance of healthy diet in adolescent girls, Lecture on girl’s education, Distribution of calcium tablets, Home visits on complementary feeding, Need for Paushtik Ahaar, Awareness about institutional deliveries and Awareness about Hygiene.
A series of lectures were also organized in the city by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration. Lectures on awareness of diarrhoea prevention by MO, CDPO, LS, ANM was organised at Mauli AWB and by ANMs & Anganwadi Workers in 150 AWCs. The public of Chandigarh enthusiastically participated in these lectures and was attended by approximately 6000 beneficiaries. A lecture by Doctor, CDPO, ANM, and Supervisor was organised at Community Centre, Sector-25(2) wherein the local families were explained about the Pradhan Mantri Matritav Vandana Yojana and Janani Suraksha Yojana.

A mother meeting, Adolescent Girls meet and Youth Group Meeting were conducted at C.No. 39 Dhanas in presence of highly trained Doctors, ANMs, CDPO and Lady Supervisor. They were followed by Lectures on first 1000 days by ANMs in their respective areas.
