District Child Protection Unit Rescues Children Below 18 Years Working as Child Labour in Liquor Factory
Chandigarh, 29th June 2021:
District Child Protection Unit received complaint that Children below the age of 18 years are working in the liquor factory . After receiving complaint, the office started inspecting for one week to confirm the child labour activity in the factory.
After confirmation, DCPU coordinated with various stakeholders such as Labour Department ,Women and Child Helpline 181 ,Childline 1098, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Anti Human Trafficking. Various teams were constituted with officers like Tabasssum khan District Child Protection Officer, Mohd Irshad, Child Protection Officer (IC), Ms. Prabhdeep Kaur ,Legal-Cum-Probation officer, (DCPS), Mr. RamPal Kataria, Labour Inspector, Mr. Arun Kumar, Junior Assistant, Labour Deptt., Mr. Sukhwinder Singh and Mr. Rohit Childine 1098, Gajendera Nautiyala and Mr Yawinder and ms Rachita from, Bachpan Bachao Andolan .
All these teams participated in the raid at M/S Rock and storm Bottlers Pvt.Ltd Plot no 214,Ind.Area, Phase-l Chandigarh. M/S Rock and Sterm Bottlers Pvt. LEd. Plot No. 214, Ind. Area, Phase-1, Chandigarh PRANEET WTRINDIAPLTI GST No 04AAACP8SO9NIZ6 214, INDUSTRIAL AREATSE CHANDIGARH 160002 .
During the raid , team has rescued 07 boys ( age- 15 to 17 years ) were involved in bottle packing , filling of liquor at bottles in the factory . The team has also rescued 08 girls( age- 15 to 17 years).
Medical examination was conducted of all the children at Civil Dispensary Manimajra. They were produced before Child Welfare Committee Chandigarh and admitted in Quarantine centres. As per Section 75, Section 79 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 i.e “Exploitation of a child employee”, CLPARA 3A ,14(1) (A)will be charged in FIR against employers, because children were working under hazardous occupation.
In order to prevent child labour at UT Chandigarh District Child Protection Unit in Collaboration in convergence with various stakeholders will conduct more rescue drives as well as awareness drives on the issue of child labour, so that the existing problem of Child Labour/Domestic worker diminishes. Further Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit will assess the possible intervention and rehabilitation required by children. CWC will also conduct assessment in convergence with District Child Protection Unit & Labour Department in order to assess the minimum wages , working hours of Children and Child trafficking angle will also be analyzed by the Child Protection agencies.
