Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (Regd.) PGI-GMCH, Chandigarh is observing International Thalassaemia Day on 8th May 2021 by organizing its 215th Blood Donation Camp at Blood Donation Complex, Room No. 107, Advance Trauma Center, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 9.30 am to 2:30 pm. Prof(Dr) Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER, Shri Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director, PGIMER and Sh. Kumar Abhay, IAAS, Financial Advisor, PGIMER Chandigarh will bless the Blood Donors in the Blood Donation Camp. The camp will be conducted under strict COVID19 guidelines and restrictions. An awareness campaign to eradicate Thalassaemia will be also be undertaken.
Shri Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust appealed that there is unprecedented shortage of blood in PGIMER for Thalassaemics and other serious patients as regular blood donation camps are not being organized due to COVID19. All voluntary blood donors, NGOs, Groups are requested to donate blood for survival of thalassaemics and needy patients.
Thalassaemic Charitable Trust has successfully organized 30 Blood Donation Camps since June 2020 with cooperation of esteemed voluntary blood donors during COVID19 lockdown period.
