63 units of blood collected at 211th Blood Donation Camp organised by Thalassaemic Charitable Trust at PGIMER

Chandigarh : April 03 : Thalassaemic Charitable Trust PGI-GMCH, Chandigarh in coordination with Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine PGIMER, Chandigarh organized 211th Blood Donation Camp on 3rd April 2021 in Blood Donation Complex, PGIMER, Chandigarh. 63 units of blood were collected from voluntary blood donors for Thalasaemics and other serious patients.
This Trust has organised 27 Blood Donation Camps during COVID19 and has mobilized more than 2450 units of blood from voluntary donors.
Thalassaemic Charitable Trust is serving thalassaemics since 1985. Presently about 450 Thalasaemics are availing blood transfusion facilities in our two Day Care Centres in PGIMER & GMCH Chandigarh. Free medicines are also provided to poor patients by the Trust.

Thalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder which induces chronic anemia. Regular Blood transfusion after 15-20 days is widely recommended treatment for maintaining optimal Hemoglobin level.

Shri Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary, Thalassaemic Charitable Trust PGI-GMCH, Chandigarh thanked all blood donors, Head, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine PGIMER, Chandigarh and his team for success of this Camp by observing social distancing and other COVID19 precautions.

Next Blood Donation Camp by Thalassaemic Charitable Trust will be organized on 10th April 2021 at Blood Donation Complex, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Shri Rajinder Kalra request all voluntary blood donors and social organizations to help mobilize blood donation for Thalasaemics and other serious patients.
