Chandigarh, 3 April –
President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Kumari Selja has accused the BJP-JJP government of Haryana for harassing the farmers for procurement of crop. She said that the wrong decisions taken by the government regarding the procurement of crops have added to the problems of the farmers. The government is bent on ruining farmers by taking dictatorial decisions without knowing the ground reality.

Kumari Selja said that the procurement of wheat crop has started in Haryana from April 1, but proper arrangements for crop procurement have not been made in the mandis. The new conditions laid down by the government have put the farmers in grave danger.

Kumari Selja said that the farmers are frustrated and disappointed with the new conditions laid down by the BJP-JJP government. The government has reduced the moisture content from 14 percent to 12 percent due to which crops of farmers are not being purchased. The farmers, whose crop is ready, are not getting the message. At the same time, the farmers whose crops are not ready, are getting messages for purchase. This is due to the decision taken by the government. Earlier, at the district level, messages were sent to the farmers by the Secretary for purchase, now these messages are being sent from Chandigarh. At some places in the state, messages are being sent to the farmers at night to bring their crops to the mandi next morning. At some places, passes are not being given to the farmers to enter mandis. There is an atmosphere of chaos in the entire state, she added.

Kumari Selja said that the decision of the government to register for the purchase of crops has added to the problems of the farmers. At the same time, farmers have not been able to register their crop due to the new conditions laid down by the government. The number of such farmers is about 40 percent in the state. While procurement of wheat crop has started, the farmers who have registered their 5 acres of crop on the portal, are being given proof of verification of only one acre. The farmers across the state are being played this way. She raised question as to where farmers would sell rest of their crop?

Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP government of Haryana is bent on completely destroying the farmers. The government should stop harassing the farmers and desist from its anti-people decisions. The government should ensure to procure every single grain of crops of the farmers.
